Admission into Science and Technical Colleges will be based on merit - Kano State Government

Kano State Government said gaining admission into Science and Technical Colleges of the State will be based on the capacity of students. The Executive Secretary of Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board, Malam Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi made the assertion while inspecting the conduct of the Senior classes entrance examination at Examination Centers of Day Science College, Government Technical College Kano, Mairo Tijjani Girls Science and Technical College, and Governors College. Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo was born on 22 April 1966 and hails from Nasarawa LGA in Kano State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Navy on September 24 1984 as a member of Regular Course 36 and was commissioned Sub-Lieutenant on 24 September 1988. He is an Underwater Warfare specialist with a subspecialisation in Intelligence. The senior officer has attended several military courses which include, Sub-Technical course and Officers Long course both at NNS QUORRA. He also attended Junior Division 48/89 and Senior Course 26 both at AFCSC Jaji. Other courses attended include the National Defence Course at the South African National Defence College. Holds a Master’s degree in Transport Management from LAUTECH. Until his recent appointment as the CNS, he was the Director of Procurement at the Defence Space Administration.

Muhammad Babandede is an astute and disciplined paramilitary officer who is the current Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Muhammed Babandede was born in Hadejia of Jigawa State, Nigeria in 1963. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Islamic Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice at the same Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria. He served as Assistant Comptroller General ACG passport at the Immigration Headquarters and was the Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of NIS, Operations & Passports, a position he attained in January 2014. Umar Idris Shuaibu - Kano The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has called for an upward review of the school fees of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, Kaduna State, from the current N7.5 million per student. Members of the committee argued that the fees should be increased, considering the fact that its competitor in Ilorin, Kwara State, is charging N22.5 million. The lawmakers made the call at the interactive session on the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) on Thursday in Abuja. The Head of Quality Assurance of the college, Ibrahim Hirse, while making a presentation before the committee, said the college was unable to increase the fees because the government wants to allow the masses to attend the school. “The major issue is that we charge N7.5million, and that is how it has been since 2007. Reason behind sealing of Kwankwaso's property by EFCC

The reasons behind the sealing of former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso’s property by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has nothing to do with his stewardship as a governor, one of his aides said. Solacebase Online Newspaper reports that a building, on Miller road belonging to the former governor was sealed on Thursday by the anti-graft body and marked under investigation. Buhari approves review of grazing reserves in 25 States

Umar Idris Shuaibu - Kano President Muhammadu Buhari has approved recommendations of a committee to review “with dispatch, 368 grazing sites, across 25 states in the country, and to determine the levels of encroachment.” The President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu,  confirmed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday. The statement said the committee was chaired by the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari. ‘’Among others, the committee had recommended the collection of field data on 368 Grazing Reserves across 25 states to assess encroachment and encroachers, stakeholder engagements and sensitization,’’ said the statement. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), on Thursday evening marked a property belonging to former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso, on Miller Road, in the metropolis for investigation. Also, the commission marked a senior lawyer’s property, Barrister Sa’idu TudunWada on Ahmadu Bello way in Kano forcing out the occupants from their offices. A credible source told 'The Historica Nigeria' that the elder statesman died at Federal Medical Center, (FMC) Yola after a protracted illness on Friday. Biography: Ahmad Joda was born in Yola to a Fulani family in 1930, his great-great-grandfather was Modibbo Raji, a 19th-century Islamic scholar and contemporary of Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio. Ahmad Joda attended Yola Elementary School and Yola Middle School before proceeding to Barewa College from 1945 to 1948. He worked briefly at Moor Plantation in Ibadan, and later as an agricultural officer in Yola before entering the field of journalism at Gaskiya Corporation in Zaria. Senate Committee did not propose creation of 20 New States Our attention has been drawn to a media report that the Senate Committee of Review of 1999 Constitution has proposed the creation of additional 20 States. The report is a gross misrepresentation of the decision of the committee on the request for creation of more states. Far from recommending creation of any state, the Senate Committee, while acknowledging receipts of several Bills proposing creation of new states, decided that it is not in a position to recommend or proposed the creation of any state unless there is compliance with the provisions of section 8 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic as amended.
