How Appeal Court validate Ganduje's faction Congresses
Abdullahi Ganduje and Ibrahim Shekarau
Abuja division of Court of Appeal on Thursday set aside the judgment of the FCT High Court which invalidated the Kano state ward and local government congresses.
In upholding the appeals filed by the faction of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the appellate court held that the lower court lacked jurisdiction to try the case.
Reports say that the Ibrahim Shekarau faction had headed to the FCT High Court after the congresses of the APC in Kano and the court upheld the group’s held congresses as against that of the Governor Ganduje’s side.
Dissatisfied with the High Court rulings, Ganduje’s group headed to the Appeal Court to contest the ruling.
The appellate Court also held that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter of the ruling party, therefore should be decided by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
