Police will recruit 20, 000 Junior Officers - IGP

He assured the State Government that every Local Government area would benefit from the recruitment, saying that the recruited Officers would serve in their respective Local Government areas after training. The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, says the Nigeria Police will soon begin the recruitment of 20, 000 Junior Police Officers. The IGP gave the hint on Tuesday evening, when he paid a working visit to Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State at the State Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan.  Baba informed the Governor that Nigeria Police has every intention to increase its strength in terms of Junior poliyce Officers’ recruitment.   He said it had overcame all the issues that had been delaying the recruitment process, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari has given approval for the recruitment. Ganduje appoints new Emir of Gaya

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has in the early hours of Sunday appointed Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya as the new emir of Gaya . Ibrahim-Gaya succeeded his late father, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir who died at the age of 91 years after protracted illness. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji announced the appointment on behalf of the Governor. Ibrahim-Gaya until his appointment was the Chiroman Gaya. According to Usman Alhaji, “Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, by the power conferred on him by the Kano Emirate law 2020 as amended has approved the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya as the new emir of Gaya. “The appointment followed the recommendation by the Gaya Emirate kingmakers after presentation of three candidates from the Governor appointed Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new Emir,” he said. After medical attention, EFCC Chairman is now hale and hearty - Spokesperson

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said its chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is now hale and hearty having received medical attention. In a tense statement today Thursday, EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren,  said the clarification became necessary following an incident on September 16, 2021 at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message at the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat. “He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk,” Uwujaren said. Recalls that Bawa was appointed head of the EFCC in February, 2021, as the first staff of the Commission and also the youngest to head the EFCC since its creation.

Breaking: Bawa Slumps in Abuja

The Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, was rushed out of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after slumping at a programme, on Thursday. Bawa was giving his goodwill message at the National Identity Day celebration when he suddenly stopped speaking. He was talking about a man the commission arrested in Ibadan, Oyo state, with 116 SIM cards when the incident happened. Bawa had stopped talking and covered his face with his right palm, saying, “Please, excuse me, I can’t continue.” According to Daily Trust Newspaper, he was assisted to his seat by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami and other senior officials at the event, but the anti-graft czar slumped on his seat, which he was immediately rushed out of the seat of power. Inuwa Waya bows out from NNPC service

Suhaib Auwal Mu'az - Kano Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Group General Manager Shipping Affairs Malam Inuwa Ibrahim, announces his voluntary retirement from NNPC, after spending almost three decades at the corporation.  Malam Inuwa Waya announced his decision to step aside from NNPC during a birthday party, organized to him by staff of his office.  Malam Inuwa Waya said "This afternoon my staff in the office to me by surprise when they organized birthday party for me. I equally took them by surprise, to tell them that earlier in the day I submitted a letter to NNPC conveying my decision to voluntarily retire from the services of the corporation.  He further noted that "I told them that I decided to retire on my own because of my conviction to allow the younger generation to have the same opportunity." Inuwa Waya concluded that " I will now focus on farming and private legal practice."

Gov. Ganduje's wife shuns EFCC invitation over alleged fraud

The wife of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Dr. Hafsat Ganduje, has shunned an invitation extended to her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC), to report for questioning, last week, over a bribery and land fraud case reported by her son, Abdulazeez Hafsat  Ganduje was invited to report last Thursday to the Abuja headquarters of the EFCC. Abdulazeez had dragged his mum, Hafsat Ganduje, to the EFCC, sources familiar with the matter said, suggesting a pattern of corruptly using family access to power for private enrichment.  The Historica Nigeria recalls that Gov.  Ganduje had previously been involved in a corruption-related scandal. Islamic Cleric Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi called for the establishment of a Federal Ministry to address the grievances of bandits and killer Fulani Herdsmen terrorising the country. Sheikh Gumi who is a self-appointed intermediary in the ongoing crises of banditry and killer Herdsmen, stated this in a Facebook post last Friday. Babandede retired from NIS service

Umar Idris Shuaibu - Kano The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has finally retired from service after spending 36 years. At a valedictory session organised in his honour on Friday, Babandede said he was leaving the service better than he met it. “I have left Immigration better than I found it.” The outgoing CG said that he was able to achieve so much as a result of the support he received from his personnel. He appealed to his successor not to “throw away the ideas we stand for”. According to him, “Keep the good things and drop the bad ones.” Babandede, who promised to be an ambassador of the NIS, said he will always be ready to assist whenever he is called on by the Service. President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Senator Basheer Muhammad Lado, Director-General of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The statement said the president has approved the appointment of Dr. Fatima Waziri-Azi as the replacement of Mohammed. ‘’The appointment was sequel to a recommendation of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq,’’ said the statement. Masari bans commercial phone charging

The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari has banned all commercial phone charging points in the State as part of measures to tackle the scourge of banditry. Reports shows that Masari issued the ban on Monday at the Katsina Government House while inaugurating the committee charged with monitoring and enforcing the recently introduced executive order in the State. The Governor believes that the latest measure, coupled with further collaborations with the Federal Ministry of Communications will drastically reduce the menace of banditry in the north-western State. Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore urges NASS to stop enactment of anti-open grazing laws
