Act on insecurity, illiteracy, social vices not talking-talking -- Prof Atiku Kurawa to the Northerners

The Vice Chancellor of Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa has urged youths and stakeholders in northern part of Nigeria to act on security challenges, illiteracy and other social vices bedevilling the region.

Professor Kurawa disclosed this at National youths conference 2021 with the theme "Nigerian Youth in National space, a reflection of the past, present and future, organised by Arewa Youth Consultative Council AYCC held in Kano.

Kurawa who double as Chairman of the occasion said the program focused on sensitizing youth on the effects of drugs, unemployment and illiteracy which when combined, leads to insecurity as well as destruction of the region.

" The main purpose of this conference is to sensitized the youth to come back to their senses to commence or to start putting mechanism in ending Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other social vices bedevilling this part of the country".

"Youth from nineteen in northern State were invited including critical stakeholders to the occasion, so that every hand will be on deck to address the problem".

Earlier, the National President of Arewa Youths Consultative Council AYCC Ambassador Zaid Ayuba Alhaji said, a Sustainable Security Project for the Nineteen Northern State tagged "SUSPRONS 2021 to 2031" was unveiled during the occasion with the intention of having Solidified Arewa for Sustainable Unity and Progress.

Zaid Alhaji said the target of the program to end insecurity and social vices bedevilling the nineteenth northern states.

"More than 70 percent to 80 percent of the population of Nigerian where youth, and more than 80 percent of those who cast their ballots are youth, and this are the kind of people that we're left behind".

In his address to the gathering while lunching the SUSPRONS, a renowned politician Abdulsalam Abdulkarim also known as A.A ZAURA represented by Comrade Ibrahim Wayya said AA ZAURA Foundation in collaboration with office of deputy speaker of the national assembly partner with AYCC aimed at promoting peace and security in northern part of Nigeria and the country as whole.  

Zaura said the program targeted youth as an instrument in ensuring peace and security in Nigeria, adding that the foundation will largely focused on practical implementation of the project not as happening in the past were occasion like this one discussed the problem and go.

"As this a pilot program, we expect that all other nineteenth northern State will go back to their respective state and lunch the same project so that the set objective will be achieved".

In his submission during the conference, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmad Idris Wase, represented by member Representing Busurka Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Busurka said, national assembly through the office of Deputy Speaker will ensure the successful implementation of the project.

"At the national assembly, youth have full opportunity to occupy any seat wheath at green or red chamber, whatever this council comes of with the National assembly is ready for it's successful implementation, even if it means to reduce the amount spent in buying a form to any seat in Nigeria, the National Assembly is ready for it so that youth can have the opportunity to compete and brings new ideas to the assembly".
