2023: I'll not assist APC during election - Former Deputy Gov

Fomer Kano state deputy governor Prof. Hafiz Abubakar has revealed that he will not assist Governor Abdullahi Ganduje if he is being given the chance to do so, in 2023.

Speaking during a stakeholder’s meeting held in Kano, Prof. Hafiz explained that the state leadership of the party has not recognized them as bonafide members of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

He noted that at a time, the party is said to be a property of only three people, the Governor, his wife and the state party chairman Abdullahi Abbas and as such sees no reason to assist Ganduje in 2023.

“To us nothing changes in the last few years, we were not regarded as party members by the state party leadership and as such I will not assist Ganduje for an inch in 2023,” he said.

The former Deputy Governor who was also with Senator Malam Ibrahim Shekarau’s Shurah committee said, even though Shekarau left the party, they are in good contact with him and still respect each other.

“We were officially appointed as members of Malam Shekarau’s Shurah committee and we were honoured. We had a meeting with him on his decamping plan. He told us his reasons and we both understood each other’s basis. His decamping didn’t affect our relationship with him,” he said.

Reports says that at the end of the stakeholders meeting, a 20-man committee  was instituted to discuss with supporters of the former Deputy Governor at various wards on either to remain in APC or to dump the party.
