Moghalu celebrates Sanusi II at 60

Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Saturday felicitated former CBN governor, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, on his 60th birthday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sanusi was born on July 31, 1961. Muhuyi Magaji risks 14 year jail term over false medical report

The suspended Chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti Corruption Commission (PCACC) Muhuyi Magaji may get up to 14 years for presenting false medical report to Kano state House of Assembly. The Historica Nigeria reports that a private legal practitioner in Kano Abdulaziz Adamu Ahmad said the act of Mr Magaji amount to an offence known as ‘forgery’ as stated by section 362 of Penal Code of Northern Nigeria. Mr. Magaji has on July 14 presented a medical report to Kano state House Assembly adhoc committee constituted to investigate a petition against him from office of the Accountant General of the state. KAROTA deploys 1500 personnel ahead of Sallah celebration

As part of it's mandate to ensure free flow of traffic in the State, the Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) have concluded plans for the deployment of no fewer than 1,500 personnel across the State during the forthcoming Sallah Celebration in conjunction with other Security Agencies. This is to ensure effective control and free vehicle movements for all road users during the period. The officers have been charged to ensure motorists and other road users comply with all the State laws with regards to driving and the use of roads so as to prevent unnecessary traffic hold-ups recorded during such festivity in the past. COVID-19: Why no herb has been approved, by NAFDAC

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, on Sunday explained why the agency has not approved any locally produced herbal medicine for the treatment of COVID-19. Prof. Adeyeye said no single drug had been found to cure COVID-19. The NAFDAC boss explained that medicinal products currently available can only reduce symptoms and increase the odds of survival. She warned researchers and other herbal medicine practitioners to desist from parading unverified medicinal products as suitable for the cure of COVID-19 without NAFDAC approval. A statement at the weekend in Abuja by NAFDAC’s resident media consultant, Sayo Akintola, said Prof. Adeyeye warned that such an act is a violation of its regulation and protocols. EFCC Arrested 20 Suspected Internet Fraudsters

The Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested twenty suspected Internet fraudsters in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State. The suspects who were mostly youth in their early twenties were arrested by a team of operatives of the Commission following intelligence indicating that some Internet fraudsters were perpetrating fraudulent activities around Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State. On the strength of the intelligence, a team of operatives was dispatched and they effected a raid on their hideouts and arrested the suspects. Investigation is ongoing and indicted suspects will be charged to court.

Eid Kabir: NSCDC Kano Command deploys 1750 ahead of Sallah

Gwaram Local Government Area in Jigawa State has issued a 30 dag ultimatum to all commercial sex workers operating in the area to vacate. Council Chairman Alh. Zaharadden Abubakar disclosed this on Friday after he received a delegation of Sara community, a popular weekly market, in his office.  He said the aim is to tackle immorality in the local government. The Chairman ordered all the commercial sex workers operating in the area to present names of their suitors to the local Government authority before the expiration of the dateline. He explained that the council is ready to marry off all the indigenous repented commercial sex workers and take care of all the wedding responsibilities. Emir of Kajuru in Kaduna, regains freedom

The Emir of Kajuru in Kaduna state, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, who was abducted on Sunday, has regained his freedom. Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, in Kaduna. He said the second class traditional ruler was released this evening, and is now in his palace. Jalige said details of how the ruler was freed would be communicated  in due course.
