The Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso said that Nigeria will continue to be in the unemployment quagmire and the economic decline of the textile industry where not given serious attention it deserves.
Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso stated this at the PMA Annual lecture in Abuja.
Represented by one of his political loyalists Dr. Umar Kurawa, said the lackadaisical implementation of policies meant to revive the country's textile industry is trapping down millions of jobs.
He said the future of Nigeria lies in adding value to its abundant natural resources which helps in creating sustainable jobs.
"You see employment generation is the key to poverty eradication which is achievable through industrialization and degree of diversification of the economy", Kurawa stated.
Kurawa maintained that the textile industry remains a key driver of sustainable jobs, and there is need for the government at all levels to take urgent steps to review its policies and consider tax waivers of our industries to encourage investment in the textile industry.
"Not only the textile industry, but also giving agriculture an upper hand in supporting farmers with the necessary inputs for improved yields", Dr. Umar Kurawa.
