2023: Senator Uba Sani Joins Kaduna Governorship Race

The Senator representing Kaduna Central Uba Sani has declared his interest in becoming the next Kaduna State Governor.

The Senator made his intention known on Tuesday during a visit to the All Progressive Congress (APC) state secretariat.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Sani said he is in the secretariat to seek the support of the party for his gubernatorial ambition.

He also praised the efforts of Governor Nasir El-Rufai in repositioning the state.

“I came to inform you of my intention to contest for the governorship seat under the APC. I also need your support to achieve this aim,” he said.

Senator Sani is one of those in the ‘core team’ of Governor El-Rufai from where he stated the likely successor to become the next state governor will emerge.

During a recent interview with Channels TV, Governor El-Rufai stated that he prefers someone from the ‘core team’ to take over from him as State Governor in 2023.

Though he denied anointing any particular person, El-Rufai said despite having a personal preference, it’s not solely up to him to choose his successor.

He explained further that he would prefer someone from the ‘core team’ because this represents a group of people who have been working with him since 2014 and understand the plans of policies of government hence, continuity would not be a challenge.

Governor El-Rufai stated that the leadership in Kaduna State will continue to discuss and rub minds with stakeholders to ensure a worthy successor emerges in 2023.
