Non implementation of MOAs by the FG is counter productive to education - ASUU KUST

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has viewed the laxity of Federal Government (FG) to implement the December 2020 Memorandum of Action (MOA) willfully signed with the union as a sad  development, retrogressive and counter-productive.

ASUU Kano University of Science and Technology (ASUU-KUST) Wudil branch, expressed the feeling at its congress meeting held on 8th February.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in a statement jointly signed by Muhammad Sani Gaya and Murtala Muhammad, both Chairman and Secretary respectively.

The statement recalled that the Federal Government had freely signed several Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) and MOAs with ASUU over years from 2009 to 2020 on the revitalization of Nigerian Universities and Staff welfare matters.

‘’However, the Federal Government in its usual antics put those MOUs and MOAs under the carpet, ‘’ the statement said.

‘’Only proper funding of Nigerian Universities and better conditions of service can  salvage the Nigerian University System from the current decaying situation. ASUU[1]KUST is strongly calling the Federal Government to implement the December 2020 MOA it freely signed with our great union to avert the mother of all strikes.’’
