Kano APC crisis: G7 rejects party structure release by headquarters

Factional All Progressive Congress Group in Kano, led by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau has rejected the guidelines for the harmonization of the party structure in the state as released by the National headquarters of the party.

Reports says that the All Progressive Congress , on Monday released guidelines for the harmonization of the party structure in Kano appointing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as head of the National /State Joint Supervisory Committee in the party structure proposal with Senator Ibrahim Shekarau as his assistant.

This was contained in the letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Y. Gashua, dated 7th February, 2022.

However, the Kano G7 in a letter by the Joint Stakeholders Forum of the APC dated 7th February, 2022 , and titled, ”RE: Guidelines For The Harmonization Of The Party Structure In Kano State”, rejected in its entirety content of the letter from the party headquarters noting that it is unacceptable to its members.

The letter jointly signed by seven members of the forum and addressed to the National Chairman, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, All Progressive Congress said,’’ To our utter dismay and disenchantment, the letter had gone viral in the social media emanating from Kano State Government circles even before reaching us mischievously paraded as conclusive evidence that the party would be surrendered to the ‘’ H. E. Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje faction.’’

“In the circumstances therefore, we are constrained to notify you Sir, that the entirety of the content of your letter is totally unacceptable to us, ”the letter said.

Solacebase Newspaper reports that the members that signed the letter are Senator lbrahim Shakarau,(Kano Central), Senator Barau l. Jibrin,(Kano North), Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe,(Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimigado Fed. Constituency), Nasiru Abduwa Gabasawa,(Gezawa/Gabasawa Fed Constituency) Barr. Haruna l. Dederi,(Karaye/Rogo Fed Constituency), Sha’aban Sharada,(Kano Municipal Fed. Constituency) and Alh. Shehu Dalhatu (Chairman, Buhari Support Group.)

It reads: ‘’ You may wish to recall that since the commencement of the reconciliation moves, several meetings were held at your instance and submissions made by both sides relating to the proposed composition of harmonized leadership of our party in Kano State at all levels.’’

‘’We had anticipated that the communication from you would be reflective of the proposals and or submissions made to you.’’

‘’Regrettably however, your said letter to us never constrained the proposals and / or submissions put forward by both sides , nor even made specific reference to them.’’

‘’We wish to reiterate our firm commitment to the promotion and preservation of the integrity of our great party and its leadership.’’

“We wish you Allah’s guidance and protection as you continue to pilot the affairs of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

Guidelines:

The guidelines is for the harmonization of the party structure in Kano State as a measure to address the crisis bedeviling the party in the State.

The party said a bottom top Caucus be constituted at each local government area with 9 members. They include-

A. Serving Senator, if he is from the Local Government

B. Serving Member, House of Representatives, if he is from the Local Government

C. Serving Member, State House of Assembly, if he is from the Local Government

D.  Serving Council Chairman and his Deputy

E. Hon. Commissioner from the Local Government

f) Special Advisers from the Local Government
g) Member of CECPC from the Local Government
i) Hon. Minister from the Local Government
j) One woman to be nominated by His Excellency in due consultation with Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau
According to the term of reference of the Caucus, each local government Caucus will meet and come up with a proposed structure for all wards and local governments.

It similarly said the National and State Joint Supervisory Committee has the following members-

Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, Yakubu Dogara, Senator Abba Ali and Secretariat.

The framework said , the committee is expected to sit in Kano and complete within 7 days and submit its report.
