2023: Arewa Youth Parliament endorses Emefiele for President

A coalition of youths in northern Nigeria under the auspices of Arewa Youth Parliament, has endorsed the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor (CBN), Dr. Godwin Emefiele as a successor of President Buhari in 2023 general elections.

Even though, Emefiele is yet to declare his intention to contest, but the CBN Governor is being wooed to join presidential race by several organizations across the country, including a Front runner association 'Arewa Youth Parliament'.

The National Chairman of Arewa Youth Parliament, Ahmad Mu'azu Kawu Rosi, said the CBN Governor is the most qualified and suitable candidate to succeed president Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, considering his vast experience in leadership and how he has been managing Nigeria's economy through implementation of new monetary policies in CBN.

He added that Emefiele's reappointment by Buhari is a clear testimony that the President is satisfied with successes recorded by Emefiele and that tells a lot about his capacity and managerial acumen.

Kawu Rosi noted that "Emefiele plays a vital role in diversification of Nigeria’s economy, as he gives much emphasis to agriculture and growth of small businesses."

"Surely, Emefiele has all what it takes to become Nigeria's President, hence we will go round the country to campaign for him. We are well-established, we have a standard political structure across the country. It will be easy for us to win the election." The National Chairman of Arewa Youth Parliament Ahmad Mu'azu Kawu Rosi concluded.

Godwin Emefiele is the current Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Prior to his joining the CBN, he spent over 26 years in commercial banking culminating in his tenure as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank PLC, one of Nigeria’s largest banks with over 7,000 staff, about US$3.2 billion in shareholders’ funds, and subsidiaries in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Gambia, South Africa, China, and the United Kingdom.

Before his banking career, he was a lecturer in Finance and Insurance in two Nigerian Universities. Mr. Emefiele holds degrees in Banking and Finance from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is also an alumnus of Stanford University, Harvard and Wharton Graduate Schools of Business where he took courses in Negotiation, Service Excellence, Critical Thinking, Leading Change and Strategy.
