F.A.O donates data generation equipment to Kano State

Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations to utilize the Fish modification centre in the State towards improving fish farming through its Fish for African, Carribean and Pacific Countries Project (FISH4ACP).

He made the call on Monday while receiving donation of equipments for data generation to Kano State by the F.A.O  at the Government House, Kano.

Represented by his Deputy Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the Governor said by utilising the fish modification centre there will be increase in production of various fish seedlings, the value chain of fisheries and aquaculture in the State.

"Therefore I have directed the Ministry of Agriculture to give you all the necessary support needed to make the place ready he said".

On the equipments donated by F.A.O, he said it will assist alot in data generation and storage.

He however expressed the appreciation of the State Government over the receipt of the equipment, adding that they will be fully utilised.

The Head Of F.A.O Programmes in Nigeria, Dr. Abubakar Suleiman while handing over the equipment to Kano State, said they are meant for data generation and storage and also for addressing issues of food security and agriculture.

He further said the equipments will also be used to tackle the problems of malnutrition and improve the agricultural development in the State.

He then pointed out that five states namely Kano, Adamawa, Cross River, Lagos and Abuja through Sustainable development Goals and Ministry of Planning and Budget are beneficiaries of the programme.

The equipment donated to Kano State by F.A.O include iPad tablets, desktops computer and printers.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor of Kano State Hassan Musa Fagge, and sent to the 'The Historica Nigeria' on Monday.

FULL LIST: APC inaugurates state chairpersons from 34 state

Umar Idris Shuaibu - Kano The National caretaker committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, inaugurated party chairpersons for 34 states and the federal capital territory (FCT). Reports say that the party members had converged on the headquarters of the APC in Abuja for the inauguration amid heavy security. Mai Mala Buni, Chairman of the caretaker/extraordinary convention planning committee (CECPC) — represented by John Akpanudoedehe, secretary of the committee — inaugurated the state chairpersons, excluding those of Kano and Sokoto. The development comes weeks before the party’s national convention scheduled for February 26. The party did not state exact reasons for excluding Sokoto and Kano.
