Girl Child: Bauchi Governor vacated his seat for young Aisha Aliyu
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad of Bauchi State has vacated his seat for a 14 year old pupil Aisha Aliyu Katagum of Government Junior Secondary School Katagum to commemorate this year's International day of the Girl Child.
Our Government House correspondence Silas Shentukwak report that the Aisha Aliyu Katagum together with her Deputy Asma'u Suleman, Secretary to the state government Khadija Tijani Ahmad and Asma'u Shehu Usman as Chief of staff function in the office for 10 minutes.
The International Day of the girl child is a day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate girls child deliberating issues affecting their development.
Resuming office, The Girld-Child Governor calls for end to girl child trafficking and molestation, reducing the number of out of school girl child and ensure that they complete school.
After resumption of office, Aisha Aliyu held a crucial meeting with the girl child Speaker of the House of Assembly and her Principal Officers.
She transmitted an executive bill for a law to ensure and promote children access to basic education in Bauchi and other related matters.
Shortly after after the Demo, the Secretary to the Bauchi State goveyrnment Barrister Kassim Ibrahim said the process will mould and motivate the girl child that they have a future in government.
According to him, the gender gap which has affected the the participation of women in governance will be broken.
Also speaking, the Education specialist UNICEF Bauchi, Mariam Dikwa said the theme for the 2021 is "Digital generation, our generation," which is focused on the rights, safety and education of girls.
