JUST IN: Vehicle conveying stranded Nigerian students to Port Sudan catches fire

'The Historica Nigeria' One of the buses conveying stranded Nigerians from Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, to Port Sudan where they will move into Saudi Arabia caught fire in the early hours of Monday. Twenty-six buses conveying the stranded Nigerians left Al Razi around 12:am on Monday for Port Sudan. “One of the buses conveying some 50 Nigerian students from Sudan with a tag number (Katsina 1) heading to Port Sudan as part of the second batch of FGN evacuation got damaged due to excessive heat from one of the vehicle’s tyres. “Dr Hashim Idris Na’Allah, the chairman of the Nigerian Elders’ Forum in Sudan, was one of the passengers in the said bus, which contained a total of 50 students (49 males, 1 female). “The driver stopped the bus near an RSF checkpoint, just before the tire exploded causing a fire to start. “All the passengers escaped unhurt. Umar Idris Shuaibu - Kano The Kano State Governor-elect, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, has congratulated workers from both public and private sectors in the State on the occasion of Workers’ Day 2023. The Governor-elect who resigned from the state civil service over a decade ago served for more than 20 years in various capacities across the state’s water sector, said workers are the key to delivering good governance under any democratic dispensation, as such, they deserve to be commended for thier sacrifice to humanity. He noted that Kano workers in the State Civil Service and private sector have demonstrated audacity in the face of their diminishing purchasing powers to maintain high standards of service delivery and productivity amid global economic hardship despite the neglect by the outgoing administration.
